Biohazard Clean Up After Sewage Flood in WInsted, CT Basement

Flooding from sewage is considered a Category 3 water clean up because sewage can contain bacteria and pathogens that are harmful to human health. When our team went to this Winsted home to clean up sewage water in the basement, they took protective measures for both their safety and that of the occupants of the home.

Protective clothing was worn by our crew as they extracted the waste water from the basement floor. Once the standing water was removed, the floors were cleaned using a pressure steam cleaner and a plant based anti-microbial was applied to floor to sanitize it. 

Not only do hard surfaces require cleaning after a sewage flooding, but the air circulating in the home must also be treated.  We used negative air fans - or air scrubbers- to filter harmful particles from the air. Dehumidifiers and air movers were used to remove the moisture from the air.
