Pipes Burst in Vacant Southbury Home, Causing Water Damage
Whether a home is vacant over the wintertime because it is listed for sale or the homeowners enjoy wintering down South, frozen pipes are a major concern. Even with regular oil deliveries scheduled, pipes can freeze and burst and go unnoticed when there is nobody in the home.
In this case, the pipe that froze was under the kitchen sink, which is a common location. One easy way to lessen the chances of this happening is to leave the cabinet doors open under sinks to allow the warm air to reach the pipes.
Luckily, we were able to save the beautiful wood flooring in this kitchen by using our floor mat system, which safely removes the moisture from hard surfaces.
